About To Break Last Year's Record
Last year we had the most productive year in the
school’s history.Twenty-Nine students received GEDs and 18 students were awarded
Skills Certificates. We are actually ahead of last year's pace. At this time
last year we had eighteen students receive their GED. Currently, we have Twenty-Nine students that received their GEDs and seven that have not
received their results yet. We are still a Jefferson Parish Public High School
that has a remarkable record of helping students attain their GEDs. Several of
our students that attended last year are currently attending college or working
at good paying jobs. This coming school year, after consulting with several
students and parents, there will be a different school uniform shirt that the
students will wear to distinguish them as a separate school from Bonnabel. The
shirt will be blue and have the words Martyn Academy on the chest. They can be
purchased at Uniforms by Kajan at 7103 Veterans Memorial Blvd in Metairie. The
school year began on August 15, 2011 with all resources, transportation, and
teachers working closely with your child. This program will allow teachers and
mentors to address your child’s individual needs and enhance his/her performance
within the GED program. Skills training will be provided through Bonnabel Magnet
Academy. Success is our goal for your child. We are happy to be working with you
and your child to help him/her build a brighter future. If you have any
questions or concerns feel free to call (504) 303-6800 between 7:30 a.m. – 2:30
